Falloween Festival 2024 Grand Parade Marshals!
Stu D. Baker has been the South Bend Cubs mascot since the Cubs' rebranding in 2015, but he has a new friend joining him for the 2025 season. Meet Ivy! She is the newest addition to the South Bend Cubs family! Ivy's uniform honors the South Bend Blue Sox of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Their jersey numbers 99 and 1 add up to 100 percent fun!
It is time to meet our next 2024 Falloween Parade Grand Marshal, Mr. Tim Davis! Mr. Davis is a very special legacy. Mr. Davis recently retired from John Glenn School Corporation in July of 2024 after 45 incredible years of service! Mr. Davis was a 1977 graduate of North Liberty High School and a 1981 graduate of Taylor University. He started his teaching career at North Liberty in 1981, where he taught for 17 years! He then went on to serve as the Assistant Principal of John Glenn High School and followed up by impacting countless lives as the Walkerton Elementary Principal starting in 2000. After 21 years of serving as the Walkerton Elementary School Principal, Mr. Davis finished up his career in public education as the Director of Learning for John Glenn School Corporation. In addition to his career in education, Mr. Davis spent 35 years as a Pastor. Mr. Davis not only impacted tens of thousands of students and families in the John Glenn School Corporation, but he also made a significant impact on his own family. Mr. Davis has been married to his wife Diana for 45 years where they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren! We are proud to announce Mr. Davis as one of our 2024 Falloween Grand Marshals!
Andrew Whitmyer, WNDU Morning Meteorologist, is another of our 2024 Grand Parade Marshals. Andrew is no stranger to Michiana and its famous lake effect snow events and summertime bow echoes. Born and raised on the south side of South Bend, where he spent half of his childhood, Andrew moved to southwest Michigan before attending college at Valparaiso University.
While attending Valpo, Andrew gained forecasting knowledge from assisting weather discussions on chasing storms and tornadoes for the Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team (VUSIT).
He also worked at WVUR, Valpo's student-run radio station, where he broadcasted the news and weather reports almost daily and covered several severe storms. During his junior year, he served as the news director and was promoted to general manager his senior year. In addition to working at WVUR, Andrew served as the director and technical director for VUTV, Valpo's student-run TV station. Andrew said his proudest accomplishment at VUTV was directing behind the scenes a 12-hour fundraising event to help raise money for Valparaiso University. This event helped Andrew gain experience on the chroma wall, which prepared him for the live weather coverage after college.
After earning his bachelor's degree in geography, digital media, and broadcast metrology from Valparaiso University in 2016, Andrew and his wife traveled to a place he never thought they would go to: the Dakotas. From 2016 to 2021, he spent his time at WDAY in Fargo, ND covering the ever-changing and unpredictable weather of the Northern Plains. From several tornadoes to blizzards and cold temperatures, the lowest wind chill Andrew experienced while in North Dakota was -68; and no, that's not a typo! When Andrew is not forecasting the weather, he and his wife enjoy cooking together and going on long walks along the shores of Lake Michigan.

It is time to give a John Glenn welcome to our next 2024 Falloween Parade Grand Marshal, Mrs. Linda Parker! Mrs. Parker is a John Glenn legacy who taught mathematics, chemistry, physics, and calculus for almost 50 years! During her teaching career, Mrs. Parker was named Teacher of the Year and was the National Honor Society sponsor. Mrs. Parker and her husband Richard are the proud parents of two children, Brian and Lisa. Mrs. Parker is also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Parker has been influential in the Falloween Festival from the very beginning! Mrs. Parker made all of the food for the Parker Cafe, where sandwiches, soups, and desserts were served! Falloween wouldn’t be the same without our very own Mrs. Linda Parker!
